Plus anti-spanking PSA, speaking softly and lots of great homeschooling resources.

Weekly Medley: Listening to your body

This article about listening to your body from the Good Men Project is a really good read. We ignore our own bodies so often, then we wonder how we never saw an illness or even depression coming. I really wish that we were taught to listen to our bodies from childhood, and as parents we can definitely encourage our children to do just this.

Have you read this piece about how real dads speak softly with kind words from Single Dad Laughing? I’m not a fan of defining people and how “real” they are or not—but I really like what he has to say.

Have you heard of Ovation? They offer online speech and debate camps, classes and help. Speech and debate are two of the main things that I don’t want Wood Sprite to miss out on because I did them in high school and college and loved them; in fact, I consider them my most valuable and underrated experiences. This is a good resource to bookmark for possible use.

And for those worried about kids missing out on economics classes, here’s an option some people have shared in our group recently. I’m not familiar with Economics for Homeschoolers, but it looks interesting. There’s also this Homeschool Book Study resource if you’re interested.

A resource that I really like is the Google Cultural Institute. You can explore art and artists, museums and so much more from home.

And I LOVE this cute 1-minute PSA against spanking. It’s not preachy, but it’s very sweet.
