Friday Fun: Homemade soap, bird houses and mosaic projects

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some really cool things that Wood Sprite, Indy and I are considering this week.

Wood Sprite absolutely loves goat’s milk soap and LUSH soaps; we are becoming slow soap connoisseurs. This tutorial to make homemade herbal soap may save us money and help us satisfy our need for decadent bathwater at the same time.

Make this mosaic wall with embedded teacups. You can plant succulent plants in the cups or leave it as-is for a cool Alice in Wonderland look in the garden which, let’s face it, is the best theme ever.

We are making birdhouses for a 4H woodworking project next month and I’ve been looking for good ideas for young children; this birdhouse from a bottle isn’t exactly what I’m looking for, but Wood Sprite and I may have to make it anyway!

Make some fun recycled instruments.

Make some cute clay cupcakes!

Check out these adorable terrarium ideas! Or you could do some guerilla gardening

I think the whole owl phase that the nation has had is fading out—maybe into foxes, from what I’ve seen in stores—which I am grateful for. As much as I have always loved owls, I don’t love being whisked into a trend. That said, this corrugated owl project is pretty dang cute.

And for the grown-ups and teens, here are 10 weird facts about Disneyland you might find interesting. I say for teens because there is death and a few gross tidbits involved in the video, so use discretion when sharing.
