Guess who's in for the 'Cell' movie adaptation?

The Stephen King movie news just keeps on coming

Hello, Stephen King fans. First, please, don't shoot the messenger, because that's all I am. I feel the need to address this before I say anything else. I also want to say right now that I'm not a huge fan of very many Stephen King book-to-film adaptations. With the exception of The Shining, Pet Sematary and maybe 1408 (which was based on a King short story), most of the King movies have left me cold. But I haven't abandoned the hope that at some point, someone's going to get it right.

I'm not sure how many of you are aware that yes, a film adaptation of Stephen King's novel Cell is in the works. They're casting it right now, in fact. The latest to join the cast (which includes John Cusack) is none other than Samuel L. Jackson. Now look, I actually did like Cusack and Jackson in 1408, but I'm just not sure if this will work for Cell. The book was okay, the idea was way cool to me though (gotta love the zombies), and I thought at the time that a movie would be interesting if it was done right. We'll see. Just do not pull a World War Z with this one. That would be unforgivable.

As far as the whole "getting it right" thing, I've still got my eye on director Cary Fukunaga's plans to adapt Stephen King's brilliantly frightening (and massive) novel It into not one, but two films. I don't know about you guys, but I always felt like It deserved more than a TV miniseries - though to be fair, Tim Curry was utterly terrifying as Pennywise the Clown. I am, as I mentioned before, hopeful - well, more like cautiously optimistic.  I hope these movies get made soon. News about this came out in June of 2012. Come on, move it along Hollywood.

What say you, Stephen King fans of the world? Will we ever get that mind-blowingly awesome King movie we've hoped for for literally years? Could It be...well...it?
