Fun things to do while the weather warms up

Weekend Fun: Happy Spring!

For starters, this is my final Weekend Fun post, so I wanted to go out with a big finale! We’ve been having a bit too much fun in the past couple of weeks, however—between photography and Girl Scouts, cookie sales and co-op classes, plus some not-fun-stuff like sickness and back issues, I’ve been behind the whole month on pretty much everything. So maybe I won’t go into TOO much fun, but here are some ideas. As always, be sure to share your own!

Uses these fun ideas to display your child’s artwork, or make new artwork together with these cool tissue paper projects.

Try any of these engaging recess games. We’ll be using some of them in class!

Head to the zoo, a farm or another fun outdoorsy place while the weather's nice. The above photo is from the new sea lion exhibit at our zoo, which curves over your head. Wood Sprite and I are completely in love with it.

When your child speaks to you, stop what you are doing and look directly in her or his eyes and listen completely. See how he or she responds.

Introduce your child to some of your favorite music and have an impromptu dance party. Serve dinner by candlelight (Wood Sprite got a kick out of that this week!), outdoors, or as an indoor picnic.

Go on a spring hunt and see how many signs of spring you can identify. Wood Sprite counted daffodils everywhere we went today.

Hike together, or try geocaching. We’re going to give it a whirl on Sunday.

This weekend we are celebrating my mom’s birthday, selling cookies (our final booth for the year, yay!), re-arranging a couple of rooms and playing catch-up. What will you be up to?
