Friday Fun: DIY projects for kids, Mr. Rogers & more
Become a Maker in this incredible online community. DIY is a place for kids to develop projects in their own communities, then earn badges online. It’s like 4H meets Scouts meets the Internet, and you can do it from home! How cool is that?
Ryan Gosling just won’t eat his cereal! This has nothing to do with homeschooling (um, unless you connect it to the whole “Hey Homeschooling Girl” meme thing somehow…), but it’s too funny not to share.
Read these heartwarming facts about Mr. Rogers—one of my all-time favorite heroes—and share a smile with me.
Sign up for your local library summer programs—ours just posted theirs and we have signed up for about 30 altogether! We are so excited about various ancient civilizations classes, crafts through time and of course animal exhibits.
Make your own bug repellant sunscreen!
Check out this lovely blog post about how unschoolers “love it forward” by Dayna Martin.
See which big companies own your favorite small mom-and-pop brands. You may be surprised!
Find out if you have a local farmer’s market and take a visit there this week. If not, see if you can start one up!
Schedule in your free summer movies. Wehrenberg has announced their schedule.
This weekend my mom is taking Wood Sprite so I can finish my fourth book (woohoo!), then Indy and I are going on our first date in months (no idea where yet). Then Saturday we are picking up Wood Sprite and taking her to a homeschool park day, followed by a free museum day at a local mastodon center. Sunday we have a picnic with our BFFs, who happen to be mother and daughter, too. What are your plans? Anything fun to share?
