Zynga to begin courting "traditional gamers"
In the face of flagging sales and engagement numbers, mobile game developer Zynga (among others) is going to begin wooing "traditional gamers" into the fold.
Gamers are harder to please, and more expensive to develop for, but they also pay back that attention more. Dedicated gamers are known for spending dozens of hours in rapt concentration to master their favorite game, and Zynga wants a slice of that attention.
One of the problems Zynga will need to overcome is the bad reputation that "casual games" for the "casual gamer" have among people who fancy themselves to be hardcore gamers. It's a ridiculous and classist system, but it's one that many gamers sadly will defend to the death.
Personally, I have to go water my apple trees in Farmville 2!
