Write for Dropbox: A handy tool for writers
I'm always on the lookout for apps that help me get writing done when I'm out and about. From taking notes to tapping out a quick post or article on my phone, I'll try just about anything to make my wait times productive. Write for Dropbox is my new favorite app for writing
The app is available for iPhone and iPad, and has loads of features. As a text editor, it is simple yet has more sharing and syncing features than other notetaking apps. As soon as you open the app, a blank note appears for you to quickly be able to make a note. All notes sync automatically with your Dropbox account, so you'll be able to pull up your work on your computer to edit later. If you're not a Dropbox user, you can also save your documents to Evernote or Google Drive.
For those that own multiple iOS devices, Write for Dropbox syncs across all devices. A neat feature is that you can use one device as a remote keyboard while the writing appears on the other device. For example, if you want to type on your iPad, you can see your writing on the screen of your iPhone or vice versa. You can also use one device as a clipboard in the same way.
The app supports folders, markdown, and the ability to insert your Dropbox images into your documents. Share your documents on services like Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. You can also email or send documents via SMS. There are more than 25 ways to save and share your documents.
It's a great tool to have on hand and only costs $1.99. Keep in mind that even if you don't want to save your notes to a Dropbox account, you'll still have to have a Dropbox account to get past the tour of the app.
Have you tried Write for Dropbox yet on your devices? Does it help you get more writing done?
