World of Warcraft subscriber numbers plummeting
World of Warcraft, the biggest MMORPG in the Western world, recently posted some alarming numbers. The Warlords of Draenor expansion pack which was released last year caused a huge uptick in subscriber numbers, which pushed the numbers up past the 10 million mark by the end of 2014.
However, the first few months of 2015 have not been as kind. Subscriber numbers have dropped to 7 million, with almost a million players lost every month for the first few months of the year.
Analysts believe the number is holding steady, and that the "extra" 3 million were probably returning players who wanted to check out the expansion. The game continues to be massively profitable, and 7 million subscribers is nothing to sneeze at!
