Three apps to help you get organized for your big day.

Wedding planning apps for iPhone

If you're going to the chapel and you're going to get married, you'll need some help with planning. Thankfully, your iPhone can take the place of those big bulky wedding planners of the past. I still have mine. I refuse to throw it out because of all the work I put into it. But, I digress. These iPhone apps can make short work of planning your wedding. They're also free, meaning you can put the money you'd spend on a planner on more birdseed or bubbles to rain down on you and your spouse-to-be.

WeddingHappy Wedding Planner

After downloading WeddingHappy, you'll be asked for your wedding date. The app then creates a customized to-do list with suggested due dates. You can eliminate items you don't need, add items and change the suggested due dates of tasks. An in-app purchase can get you a wedding countdown. What future bride doesn't want to know, down to the minute, how much longer it is until her big day? You'll get notifications when tasks are due. You can email tasks to yourself and post updates to Facebook and Twitter. Bridezilla meets social media! Keeping up with your vendors and contacts is a breeze; you can even associate these contacts with certain tasks.

The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner

The Knot is still the biggest go-to resource when it comes to planning a wedding. Their free (for a limited time) iPhone app doesn't disappoint. If you have an account on TheKnot.com, the app can sync with it to ensure all your details are up-to-date no matter which device you use. The app features a countdown, wedding checklist, budget tool and dress finder. You'll also find more than 1,000 ideas for cakes, hairstyles and décor. Keep track of your vendors, guest list and registry all within the app.

iDoo

The iDoo app has all the basics like a checklist, guest list manager, budget tool and vendors list. It also has a seating chart. The seating chart may seem like a small detail, but it's handy to have one within the app to make changes as you note the RSVPs in your guest list. This is one of the newer wedding planning apps on the scene, so expect to see more features in future updates. As it is, the app is user-friendly and thorough.
