An app to log your traveling adventures.

Trip Journal app review

Since my husband won a beach trip recently and I'm planning a beach getaway, I thought I'd share a great traveling app with you, in case you haven't heard about it yet. It's been around for a few years now, but should be a staple on any traveler's smartphone. It's called Trip Journal from iQapps, and it's a fantastic way to make your friends jealous of your trips record your travels and share your experiences.

Trip Journal is chock-full of features for tracking and documenting your traveling adventures. You can use GPS to track your route while traveling. Or, if you're like me and don't want to waste your battery running the GPS, you can automatically or manually update your positions to add your favorite destinations to your travelogue. Your photos and videos will be geo-tagged, so that does away with the question of, "Where was this again?" Photos can be taken within the app or added from your phone's photo gallery.

Share your photos and videos on Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and more. Trip Journal uses Google Earth, so your friends and family can see where you've traveled and the spots you've found most interesting. They'll be able to see your photos, videos and comments about the locations you've visited.

Keep in mind that route tracking, geo-tagging and maps are only available in WiFi hotspots, but you can still use your GPS to track your route. Even if you're not into logging your travels, older kids will think this app is lots of fun. They can snap photos and make comments on the locations for Grandma or Grandpa to see. Trip Journal is available for iOS and Android for $2.99.

What's your favorite app for creating travel journals? Do you prefer to do it the old fashioned way?
