Pill boxes not required

Apps to remind you to take your medicine

As kids, my brothers and I used to joke the pill box our grandma carried with her. You know the type I'm talking about. It has a little compartment for every day of the week. Hers was filled to the brim, mostly with vitamins, but she had a couple of prescriptions to take every day, too. It seems that I have inherited her forgetfulness. I rarely take medications, but when I do, I almost never remember to take them on time. I don't mind it so much when I just have myself to take care of, but now that I have a son, I make sure I give him his medications on time. Alarms, reminders and apps like these help me keep up a regular schedule of medicine.

Med Helper Pill Reminder: This Android app is free and gets excellent ratings to boot. You can keep track of all the medicines you're taking and set alarms for each one. Track medical appointments, receive alerts when you're close to running out of your medicine or when they're close to expiring. Store contact information for your doctor and pharmacy. Track your vitals such as temperature, weight, pulse, blood pressure, glucose and more. It really is a comprehensive app that's perfect for anyone who takes medications on a regular basis.

RxmindMe Prescription: This app is free for iOS devices. Keep track of prescriptions that are taken several times daily, once a day, once a week and even as needed. Set alarms and reminders that will pop up even if you're using another app. Enter in your prescription quantities and the app will count down your pills every time you take a dose. This lets you know when you're running low and need to get a refill. This app hasn't been updated in a while, but it still runs just fine.

Do you have an app to remind you to take your medications?
