Three Excellent Ways To Celebrate Being Single Next Weekend

Despite what commercials and greeting card companies would have us believe, you don't have to be one half of a romantic coupling to celebrate Valentine's Day. In fact, more and more single people are viewing this holiday season as a simply terrific opportunity to express their love for family, friends and - most importantly - themselves. If you're on your own this V-Day, here are some awesome ways to spend the day.

Secret Saint Valentine”
I stumbled across this idea on a party planning site a few years ago and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. Much like the "Secret Santa" of Christmas, you coordinate with your fellow solo friends, set a spending limit, and buy each other gifts.

Throw a Shipping Party
Many book and movie lovers will tell you the best relationships are the ones that don't actually exist. So why not celebrate fictional love this year? Encourage your friends to dress up as their favorite TV couples, play "mix and match" shipping games, and brew up some fanfiction themed drinks. Above all, be creative!

Relax. Seriously. Just relax.
Personally, I like to think of Valentine's Day as a free pass from obligation and pretense. No worries about what to wear, where to go and with whom... It's one of those rare days when, as a single person, I'm at liberty to do absolutely nothing and no one can judge me. Take advantage of that freedom by spending some quality time with you.
