The Perks of Long-Distance Dating

It's no secret that long-distance relationships are tough. Being apart from the one we love can cause stress, insecurity and loneliness. But there are also benefits to being involved with someone who lives far away. If, like me, you often feel that sting of separation, try bearing these perks to long-distance dating in mind.

Less pressure to look our best.
While it's undoubtedly important to take care of ourselves, a long day at work can zap the desire for a primp and a shave right out of us. The downtime inherent to long-distance relationships calls for a lot less consistent self-maintenance, freeing us up for more rest.

Distance does make the heart grow fonder.
Anyone who says otherwise has likely never been standing in the arrivals gate of an airport at the very moment their loved one steps into view. Time away from our partners often guarantees we won't take them for granted.

If we can survive this, we can survive anything.
Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that most long-distance relationships are only temporarily distant. Determination and patience are virtues, after all. Just imagine how much stronger our love will be after withstanding the tests of – and defying – time and space.
