This week in Hollywood
It seems as if every week things are going down in
First and foremost, you may remember a little movie by the name of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The flick, while it could not be considered a masterpiece of film making, did manage to bring in more than a few bucks at the box office. The problem is, the writers who made the first in this franchise, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra are claiming that most of the ideas for the second movie were stolen from the original pitch they made for the project, a pitch that was rejected. There’s always the question of whether these movies could even be considered original enough to actually warrant plagiarism, but the folks in
The next bit concerns the never-ending battle for Warner Bros. to produce a Justice League movie and potentially give Marvel’s massive super hero franchise a run for their money. This idea has been tossed around for ages but never quite seems to go anywhere. To help his rivals out, Kevin Feige, the lord almighty behind all things Marvel-movie has offered up some advice on how they should do it. He also throws out a few opinions about why DC characters kinda suck in general. Just a little bit smug about our success, are we Feige?
Third in line is yet another blasphemous reboot. This time the folks at Relativity Media want to remake that cult classic, The Crow. Actor Luke Evans (Fast and Furious 6) has been hired on to replace Brandon Lee in the iconic role, which already sounds like bad news. Now, if the insiders are to be believed, the script is looking pretty damn crappy as well, or at least the elements they’ve decided to add to the flick to make it “unique”. Personally, I hope Lee rises from the grave to Crow-out on these idiots before the film ever sees production.
And then there is this - the first trailer for Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s The World’s End! In case you didn’t know, this is the third and final piece of the “trilogy” that began with Shaun of the Dead and continued with Hot Fuzz. Check out the trailer below and tell me this doesn’t look epic as all hell.
The World's End - Teaser Trailer
The last on the list is certainly not the least. In yet another bit of great news, it appears as if the awesome but too-short-lived
