‘Fargo’ and ‘Hellblazer’ go to TV, more ‘Harry Potter’ movies, and a couple of cool videos

Media Hijinks - The Stories Just Keep Getting Longer!

First off this week, we have a television show being made that is perhaps one of the strangest things I could have never thought of.  Some folks decided that taking the Coen Brothers’ movie, Fargo and adapting it to the small screen was a good idea.  Now, normally I am quite skeptical of these things, but the names involved make it seem like this will be more than just an attempt to cash in on past success.  The Coen Brothers are producing, some of the folks that made American Horror Story are putting it together and… it will be starring both Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit) and Billy Bob Thornton.  Okay, so that’s a pretty damn impressive list of names.  I will for sure be watching this one to see how it turns out.

Next up, yet another television series made from a movie!  This time, however, they will be taking an old and poorly handled property and turning it into something potentially good.  Hellblazer, first an amazing comic and then a bad movie, might be taking its place on the small screen.  And again we get an impressive name to go with the sales pitch.  It seems as if David S. Goyer will be writing it!  For those that don’t know, Goyer is the comic book geek that wrote Man of Steel and is working on the upcoming Batman vs. Superman flick.  Some may say that his writing style is too dark for Superman, but if you’ve ever read Hellblazer you know that he would be perfect for that.  I really, really hope this one pans out.

Third up, a potential return to the world of Harry Potter.  Most already know that J.K. Rowling is already working on a new book, a story based on a book within her old books (confused yet?).  Now Warner Bros. wants to do the same thing for the big screen.  The big rumor is that the new movie will somehow revolve around Quidditch, though there are several other ideas on the table.  Basically, they want to take the title from one of the books mentioned within Harry Potter and transform it into its own free-standing film.  It’s a strange way to do things, but I would be very happy to see the expansion of Rowling’s rich universe, even if it had nothing to do with the titular hero.

And then there is this - the Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser is here!  Don’t expect too much, since it’s just a teaser, but you should go to this site here to check it out immediately.

And because I couldn’t resist, yet another video.  This one is an open letter to J.J. Abrams presenting four simple suggestions on how to make the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII great.  I was skeptical at first, since usually this just amounts to fanboy crap, but this guy actually hit the nail right on the head.  Check it out and see what you think:

Until next week, don’t take rumors from strangers.
