New ‘Capt. America’ gets a trailer, ‘Hellraiser’ gets a remake, Ellen Page gets naked and ‘Star Wars’ gets more rumors

Media Hijinks - Remakes, Rumors and Naked Ladies

10/26/13

First up on the agenda for this week, a new Marvel movie trailer!  With Thor: The Dark World already out in theaters across the ocean (why do they always get our movies first!?), the next Marvel flick on the list is Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Now, finally, there is a trailer available to watch.  Much of the footage is what was screened at Comic-Con, but there’s a lot more in this 2 ½-minute sneak peek, including a look at The Falcon!  Check it out at the link below.

Second on the list, a remake that just may be worth watching.  The powers-that-be are putting together a new version of Hellraiser, one of my favorite horror films of all time.  Now, before other Hellraiser fans fly into frenzy of outrage know this - Clive Barker will be both writing and directing the new film.  So the guy who made the first is doing the new one, which is a damn good idea if you ask me.  Furthermore, Barker is pushing hard to return Doug Bradley to the role of Pinhead, so we’ll get the same awesome bad guy as well!  This is a remake I can seriously get behind and I am eagerly awaiting more news on how it progresses.

Third up, an amusing bit of news concerning actress Ellen Page.  Anyone that has played Beyond Two Souls knows that Page did all the motion capture for the game and the character looks like her in pretty much every way.  There are a couple of shower scenes in said game, though they are somewhat tastefully done so you don’t get any R-Rated visuals.  At least they were until some hackers figured out how to unlock the camera and move it wherever they wanted.  Naturally, what followed was a bit of graphical enhancement to the digital Page’s womanly bits and pieces.  Though personally I find it rather amusing (it is, after all, not really Page you’re seeing), some folks, particularly those at Sony, have gotten quite irate about it.  You can read more on the whole fiasco by checking out this article.

And finally, the big Star Wars rumormill strikes back.  The Star Wars YouTube channel has been posting old trailers from the original films, one every two weeks, every time on a Wednesday.  They started with Episode IV and moved up through V and VI.  What shall they post come next Wednesday, however?  Well, the big buzz is that we’re going to see some sort of tease for Episode VII.  The day, October 30th, also just coincidentally happens to be the one year anniversary of when Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars.  Given the absolutely perfect timing on this, I’m going to have to agree with the rumormill on this one.  So keep your eyes on YouTube this Wednesday if you’re a Star Wars fan!

That’s all we got for now, folks.  So until next week, remember that just because you may be wearing Superman underwear doesn’t mean that you can fly.
