Media Hijinks - More Rumors, More Reboots and a Birthday
It’s been a slow news week, what with Christmas and all, so there isn’t much to report that’s too exciting. I’m sure that will change with the coming of the new year, but for now we all just have to concentrate on other things like presents and drinking and food and all that stuff instead of the things that really matter - such as Batman vs. Superman casting.
Speaking of which, there is one rumor flying around right now about the next DC/Zack Snyder flick. This time around, people are claiming that Denzel Washington will be joining the cast - as the Green Lantern.
Next up, a remake that slipped by my radar. Some may remember a “based on a true story” flick called Amityville Horror that came out back in 1979. Then they remade it in 2005. Now they’re doing it yet again, this time using the found-footage method of shooting. The original flick scared the living crap out of me when I was a wee lad, though I do wonder at whether it truly needs yet another remake. For more on that project, head to this site and see what they have to say.
Third on the list - have you ever wanted a real Star Wars prop? They’re not easy to find (Lucas hoards those like a crazy person), but recently the original Han Solo blaster prop went up for auction. It’s the very same one he carried around in the second two flicks. And it sold for a ridiculous $200k. I like Star Wars and all, but that’s a lot of freakin’ money for one prop.
And finally, more about the upcoming Flash series that the CW has in production. The pilot is supposed to start shooting in March of 2014 and the rumors say they’re already looking to spice it up a bit by including some serious super-powered folks as cast members. So far it’s said that both Professor Zoom (Flash’s arch-nemesis) and Vibe (a Latino hero) will be taking part in Flash. This is definitely a different route than the mostly grounded-in-reality Arrow has been thus far and it makes me wonder if Arrow might evolve in a similar way. Guess we’ll just have to wait a couple more weeks until that show’s return.
Oh, and it also happens that Stan Lee’s birthday was the other day. Dude is now 91-years-old. Congrats on making it this far Stan and may you live another 91 (with the help of super-science, of course).
Until next week, don’t drink too much on New Year’s or you may just forget to tune in for Community’s return on January 2nd. Or at the very least set your TiVo (do people still have those?).
