More super heroes, more ‘WoW’ and ‘Star Wars’ gets a release date

Media Hijinks - Good News for Everyone!

Well folks, I got a butt-load of good news for you this week, which is a stark change from the usual remakes and reboots rubbish that permeates the Internet.  For lovers of super heroes, within a few years you’re going to have more super-action than you can possibly stand.  In addition to DC crowding the TV airwaves with an upcoming The Flash series as well as the Batman-esque Gotham, Marvel is looking to play the game as well.

In order to compete with DC, Marvel decided that it was about time for them to make a serious move on the small screen.  Sure, they already have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it doesn’t really take advantage of all the properties that the Marvel-Disney juggernaut has at its disposal.  They’ve previous announced plans to put yet another “mystery” show on alongside S.H.I.E.L.D. (rumors say it will be an Agent Carter series), but now they’re taking a shot at Netflix.  Five - count em - five new shows will be coming to greet us, bringing in a host of new supers for us to squeal and pee ourselves over.  And the lucky heroes are… Daredevil, Luke Cage (AKA Power Man), Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.  What’s that you say?  I’ve only listed four?  Well, that’s because they plan to spend 13 episodes in each of these worlds and then culminate with a mini-series entitled The Defenders.  So everyone will be coming together at some point.  Excited yet?  Well, you’re still going to have to wait a year or so before you get to see them, so just sit back and relax for a while.

Second up - more superheroes!  This one’s just a rumor, but it seems as if various casting leaks have suggested a very real possibility of both Dick Grayson (AKA Robin) and Wonder Woman being included in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman flick.  How much screen time they will get and whether this is all BS or not remains to be seen, but if you gave a look at some of the ladies they’ve been interviewing to play a “strong, exotic, athletic” female lead, you’re inclined to think Wonder Woman.  Guess we’ll just have to wait and see on this one.

Third up, great news for World of Warcraft junkies.  The fifth expansion of the massively popular MMO is coming - Warlords of Draenor.  I’m not a WoW player, but apparently this is pretty big news.  Draenor has something to do with the game’s rich history and now players will get a chance to instantly create level 90 characters and go head-to-head with the legends.  You can check out more about it by heading to this site, where they actually know what they’re talking about.

And finally, a brief bit of news so that Star Wars junkies have something to talk about.  The new Episode VII has an official release date (finally) and that date is - December 18th, 2015.  This is a little later than the summer 2015 they were previously looking at, but that’s probably for the best considering both Batman vs. Superman and The Avengers: Age of Ultron are slotted for that time period.  So it’s just over two years to wait for a new Star Wars.  Prepare for months and months of pointless rumors about casting and plot!

Until next time, continue to treat each other with love and respect.  Unless you get super powers and have the ability to take over the world, of course.
