Media hijinks: A week of good news for once
This week in media news, it looks like good things may finally be happening. While I’m sure there are plenty of bad remakes and horrible casting decisions going on in the shadows, I’ve chosen to avoid those for once and deal with some stuff that actually makes me happy. This time around, new video games, new video game consoles, a movie for bronies and the first look at Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. project.
First on the list, a new installment of the ever-popular Assassin’s Creed franchise. They keep making more of these games and, despite removing the game from its
Next, a bit of good news mixed in with the bad. If you’re worried about how you’re going to budget the upcoming year because of both Microsoft and Sony releasing their new console systems, you may have to worry further. It looks like Nvidia is dropping a new, high-tech console system into the market. Called The Shield, it will set you back around $350 bucks. One of the major features of the new system is that it’s capable of playing your computer games, which sounds amazing. You can check out a full list of the technical specs here and the handheld is already available for pre-order. Guess we all better start looking into a small loan to cover the cost of our upgrade.
And next, some good news for all the bronies out there. It looks like there’s a My Little Pony movie coming up soon, albeit the setting is a bit different than what one might expect. This time they’re taking the ponies to high school. Why? I dunno, maybe they decided to appeal to their aging demographic? <insert drum roll> Check out the trailer for Equestria Girls here:
And last, but not least, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD finally has a trailer. Check it out at the following link:

I’ll say it, though I’m certainly not the first - it totally looks like X-Files with super heroes. Still, it looks better than I had expected and Joss Whedon once again proves that he knows what the hell he’s doing. Plus, it “tested well” across a variety of demographics according to ABC, if that means anything. It’s coming up this Fall and you can bet I’ll be doing reviews for that one from start to finish.
On a final note, this picture. Why? Because it’s awesome.
