Historic step forward for human rights in US

Supreme Court strikes down DOMA

In a historic move, the Supreme Court yesterday struck down DOMA, thus finally making it official: gay marriage is legal in the United States. Same-sex couples will now have the same basic legal rights as opposite-sex couples, including visiting their partner in the hospital, receiving death benefits, and custody rights. (Oh, and paying more in taxes. Sorry!)
