Super Bowl Takeout
Super Bowl Sunday is potentially my favorite secular holiday. I grew up in the midwest where most of our Sundays were spent at church in the morning and watching football in the afternoon, so there is a very real connection for me between ceremony and football.
These are my suggestions for creative things you can order if you're hosting or will be at home for the Super Bowl this year.
1. Half-Baked Pizza: Ok, so this may not be completely an order, you may have to go pick it up, but you're not actually "making" it so it's on the list. The advantage here is that you don't have to really do any cooking but you still get to warm up your house with that awesome pizza smell. It also feels healthier than getting greasy delivery. Is it healthier? Maybe. I don't know. It's the Super Bowl, stop worrying. ps If you're in the Bay Area, get yours at Arizmendi.
2. Out of State Barbecue: I stole this one from Esquire because it's that awesome. You can get award-winning brisket, sausages, spare ribs, etc. SHIPPED TO YOUR HOUSE with this service called Foody Direct https://www.foodydirect.com/ . For that matter, you can get a lot of things there, check out the website.
3. Beer: There's this website called AleInTheMail.com, ok? And they have this thing called "The Party Pail." They will ship you a twelve pack sampler of microbrews plus some snacks for $55 + shipping and handling. Take those and mix them in with your local standby's and suddenly your beer supply is exotic and comforting at the same time. And delicious.
What about you? Do you have any stealth suggestions for ordering out Super Bowl goodies?
