Weird Knits: Trigger finger mittens

By chance this week I ran across an entirely new-to-me genre of knitting patterns: trigger finger mittens, like this pattern on Ravelry. The idea is it's a mitten, but also your index finger is free. Like the ultimate glove/mitten hybrid. I'm still not sure how I feel about them, to tell you the truth. I think they look a little creepy, but I can't quite figure out why!
