Rust adds randomized female characters to the mix
Since its release, Rust has been randomizing player attributes. When you start the game, you can't choose or customize your character, the game just randomizes their features, skin tone, etc. Many people apparently had no problem with this - until the developers announced that they were adding female characters, too.
Some male players are upset that they will get "no choice" in being assigned the opposite gender. Their outrage completely fails to account for the fact that until now, 100% of female players had "no choice" about always being assigned the opposite gender. And lest we forget, almost 50% of gamers are female. At least now, we will all have the same chance of being assigned the opposite gender. That's fair, isn't it?
Some players are complaining that this new feature will ruin their immersive experience. Which is weird, because it seems to me that running around a world which is 100% male characters would be un-immersive, given that 50% of all humans are female.
I congratulate Rust on bringing female characters to their game, and on sticking to their guns when racist and sexist players complain. Love it!
