Memorial Day weekend races in Seattle

As Memorial Day weekend approaches, Seattle runners have a variety of races to look forward to. According to Gametiime, an online resource to discover and compare races, there are at least 15 unique races occurring in the Puget Sound area between May 23 and May 27. A few Run Seattle Run favorites to consider this holiday weekend:

BORN TO RUN SOARING EAGLE TRAIL RUN

Born To Run and Evergreen Trail Runs present four events at the Soaring Eagle Trail Run in Sammamish. Barefoot, minimalist and traditional runners are encouraged to participate in a 50K, Marathon, 10M or 5M trail race at Soaring Eagle Park this Memorial Day weekend. The race course features scenic nature views and plenty of refreshments for runners. Join Seattle's trail running community for what should be a wonderful trail race production. Best for: Minimalist and barefoot runners who enjoy trails.

Cost: Between $28 and $50, depending on race distance. Prices increase $10 on race day.

COLOR VIBE 5K RUN

Add a little color to your life this Memorial Day weekend at the Color Vibe 5K Run in Bellevue. This increasingly popular run features color stations along a 5K course where participants get hit with a variety of colored corn starch as they walk, jog or run. Participants are encouraged to wear older, white attire to allow maximum color enhancement. The course begins and ends at the Bellevue Community College, where the Finish Line Party takes place and participants will get doused with more color every 15 minutes. Bring your friends and get ready for a colorful race unlike you've ever seen! This event is sold out, but you can join the wait list or volunteer to get involved. 

Best for: Casual runners interested in a fun, memorable (and colorful) race.

Cost: Between $40 and $50, depending on when you register.

Where: Bellevue College in Bellevue

MAGNUSON SERIES: MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Club Northwest, a local non-profit running club, hosts the Magnuson Series, which features 5K, 10K, 15K and a Kids Dash at Magnuson Park every month. This month's race series highlights Memorial Day and is the perfect racing opportunity for individuals, teams and families. Participants can choose to run one, two or three 3.1 mile loops around Magnuson Park, with views of Lake Washington and moderate elevation gain. All courses are timed and light refreshments are offered at the finish line. Register online here or in person on race day.

Best for: Families and teams interested in improving their fitness on a controlled course.

Cost: Between $14 and $28, depending on race distance. Prices increase $10 on race day.
