What’s Happening Wednesday: Tetris for curbing cravings

All of the news pieces after this first one are going to be depressing, so I don’t blame you if you want to bail on me.

It turns out that the game Tetris may be helpful in curbing cravings. It also happens to be my favorite game.

People who keep telling me that we’re in a post-racist America because our president is black drive. Me. Crazy. The Stand Your Ground laws continue to support white murderers while a black man who defends himself—shooting but not killing people in the process—gets sentenced to jail. Death tolls are also rising in general because of that gem of a law. How long are we going to allow this to continue?

As a big girl, I can certainly vouch for the truth of pieces like this. It’s true that fat women are both shamed as being undesirable and unfeminine while simultaneously being tramps, and it’s outrageous. I’m glad that Café Press took the shirt down, but you’ll still find similar items all across the Internet. Violence against women affects all women.

A mom in Pennsylvania tried to help her teen daughter obtain an abortion, but the closest legal clinic was in New York. After she obtained drugs to help her daughter with the procedure, she was charged with a crime. If you visit the link, you can see all kinds of other heinous ways the government is affecting women—from banning home births to supporting lying crisis pregnancy centers and worse. I hope the people who constantly scream about how Americans have the “most rights” do realize that these are abysmal human rights violations, and that there are countries out there with much better records than ours.
