What’s Happening Wednesday: Stolen pumpkins

10/30/13

Here’s the sign a mom made when her two-year-old’s pumpkin was stolen.

If you are a fan of Terri Windling, her blog is a must. She has a quote up about giving ourselves permission today that I just love and I think you will, too.

Planning on being Katniss this Halloween? Here’s a guide for her costume.

Check out the fairy tale villains doing the “Spell Block Tango”!

Catching Fire Global Fan Day is coming up on November 6. Do you have any plans? I wish the movie would be out that early, too!

Melissa Wardy has an important post up about what our kids learn from dolls—and how there are just no choices on the market. When people tell us moms and dad who complain about commercial dolls and body image, we are told to just “pick something else.” But there’s not much else, unless you have big bucks to fork over on an American Girl doll. And now there’s the horrific Fairy Tale High to look forward to… Come on, toy people, make something real and fun and diverse and interesting and positive for once!

And finally, a story that makes me sick to my stomach: the experience of killing an endangered black rhino is being auctioned off to… raise funds for black rhino conservation. I can’t make this crap up.

Being late. It is rude. Be on time when you can. That doesn’t mean speeding, but it does mean waiting until after your appointment to eat your sub.

Although I normally post freebies during the weekend, I wanted to share a few Halloween freebies with you. I already posted about free kids’ meals at IHOP, but there’s also…
