Plus more harms caused by spanking, papal news & Willow Smith’s new song

What’s Happening: CTFD, yoga benefits and more

Here’s a bit about how yoga changes the stress patterns in your brain. Neat!

I’ve written a lot about how spanking damages children; here’s some more information about the problems that spanking causes later in life. One study also links it to obesity.

The CTFD technique (warning: language!) is making its rounds, and I wholly support it!

Parents think that Willow Smith is too young to sing about a summer fling (she is 12). At 12, I found my soulmate, so I support her and think it really depends on the emotional maturity of the child. That said, I’m not sure “fling” is the best word; maybe “crush” would work better at that age? I really respect Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith and their child raising techniques and I think Willow’s getting the support she needs—any concerns, in my opinion, are really around how other twelve-year-old kids respond.

I love this post about living versus labeling unschooling (or anything for that matter)!

According to SCOTUS, people can legitimately be fired for being “too attractive.” What a subjective load of BS! So now I guess you can fire anyone you don’t like and just say that you were too attracted to them…

Have you heard that the Pope has criminalized the reporting of sex crimes in the Vatican? What a way to protect kids, sir. If you don’t want people tearing Catholicism apart because they think it’s full of pedophilia, you need to work AGAINST such things, not hide them!
