Looking for something new and different to try?

Weekend Recipes

Have you heard of Martha Stewart’s new cookbook? It’s supposed to be like cooking school lessons from the comfort of your own home. It looks very interesting, and now that I have the stove I want, I really want to try learning some new things. Does anyone have a copy? If so, did you learn a lot?

In the meantime, here are some really interesting recipes that you might want to try this weekend or upcoming week…

These garlicky pickled mixed veggies look pretty yummy! I never was a huge pickling fan, but lately we’ve been making our own and boy, is there a difference between homemade pickles and store-bought ones. (Who knew? Not me!) And honestly, anything prefaced with the term “garlicky” is bound to get my attention, know what I mean?

This strawberry and poppy seed pie looks absolutely incredible. I’m not a huge pie eater; I love Thanksgiving pies but that’s pretty much it. I don’t go gaga over it like Dean Winchester. That said, I love strawberries and poppy seeds together in muffins, dressing—why not pie? And how about this pomegranate rum punch? Yes, please.

And while this isn’t a recipe, this DIY solar food dehydrator looks pretty interesting. Has anyone ever tried something like this before?

Crafting a Green World has a great list of 35 pantry staples to try. You’ll find DIY versions of everything from hamburger helper to condensed soups and so much more. What a cool idea—and much healthier, too.
