The Kid Should See This

One of my favorite blogs ever is The Kid Should See This. It consists of a bunch of videos found by a mom and her two young children. The cool thing is that they are not children’s videos, but interesting forays into art, science, food and other topics that both children and adults can enjoy together. Sometimes we spend an hour at a time just browsing through videos, especially if we haven’t seen any in a while. There’s always something amazing; some of Wood Sprite’s favorite bookmarks came from this blog. I love how the author makes it clear that the videos aren't usually intended for kids—but “we don’t underestimate kids around here.”

(Language warning) This website lists 50 amazing animals that are considered freaky, including the aye-aye, ajolote and giant Chinese salamander. They are incredible photos to stimulate discussion—but keep in mind there’s some adult language/swearing on the website.

This little kitten is going nuts over the lizards in her house. My daughter loves this video!

For kids who love to play online games, try the new MathSeeds.com. It’s from the makers of Reading Eggs, and so far Wood Sprite loves it. It’s designed for young children but I think older kids could have some fun playing it if they wish—there’s a farting cat, after all, and what’s not to love about that? It does cost to subscribe, but you can get a free trial for a few weeks.

Check out the World Wonders Project to see amazing photos of the world every day. You can visit the site you click on, or explore the interactive globe and select your destination. Then watch videos, see photos and learn more about each location.
