I’d like to offer some gratitude to a particularly nice chef during this week of thanks.

Thanks, O’Charleys!

11/30/13

It’s no secret that I keep a gratitude journal, and I offer my thanks to lots of people, places and even things (peppermint oil for keeping the brown recluses away, for starters!) every single day. I can’t tell you how much this changes your life; it can only be experienced. That said, I really like to offer public gratitude when businesses are doing things right, and this week I’d like to salute O’Charleys.

We already love O’Charleys. I don’t know anyone with anything bad to say about the restaurant, and we used to eat there weekly because they have such great deals. On days when kids eat free, we buy endless soup and salad lunches and all three of us eat for under twenty bucks. Plus, we get all of those soft rolls—I am getting hungry thinking about it!

Anyway, the food is great, the service is great, and it’s very family and cost friendly. Go there if you haven’t just for these reasons. But if you head to the O’Charley’s in Fenton, Missouri, you might want to sit close to the kitchen and bring a stuffed friend…

In this photo, I present Thackery, Wood Sprite’s new favorite stuffed animal. She got it from Build a Bear for her birthday and hasn’t slept without it in over a month. When she took it with her to O’Charleys on my birthday a couple of weeks ago, the chef actually stopped by our table and left Thackery a little saucer with cream. Wood Sprite was absolutely tickled; no one ever plays along except us, especially other grown-ups. The hosts there are always very gracious and kind to her, but this was obviously above and beyond good customer service.

O’Charleys, you already made us lifetime fans with your good service and food; now we want to share the message with others and say thank you for honoring our child’s imagination with such a simple yet very, very cool gesture.
