Tasty Tuesday: Fun Halloween treats
Relax with a strawberry limoncello sparkler. Everyone goes on about how wonderful limoncello is, but the one time I had it, it tasted like cough syrup. I must have purchased a cheap brand or something. Does anyone have a great brand of limoncello to recommend?
Make some strawberry honey jam, too. Strawberries for everyone! Honestly Wood Sprite would eat nothing but strawberries if she could. Broccoli, too, believe it or not—but not raw. It has to be steamed.
Here’s a free menu planner you can download for the month. It doesn’t feature recipes but it’s a cute fall theme. You can fill it out with your budding chef and plan things to prepare together.
Getting ready to make some spooky treats for Halloween? Fill candy jars at your party with treats and label them as ghoulish goodies. For example, fill a jar with lemon heads and label it “Glowing Goblin Eyes.” Use red hots for “Demon Eyes,” too. Get some candy sticks or potato string chips in a can and put them in a jar labeled “Gremlin Bones.” You get the idea. Sometimes it’s all about the presentation. Make your labels spooky enough or paint your containers with some dripping slime or blood and you won’t have to create really gross-looking foods that people won’t eat—which means that you won’t have waste, either.
You can also make an easy punch of Witch’s Brew with some Hawaiian punch, sorbet and lemon-lime soda. Add a creepy hand by freezing some colored water in a glove, then cutting the glove off to make a big ice cube.
