Tasty Tidbits: Southern style tea

Even though I’m from Missouri, my family has always identified more with being Southern than Midwestern. In fact, I don’t think I even heard the term “Midwestern” until high school! We live south of St. Louis, and about an hour from where I am from, you start to hear Southern accents. My college town? Lots of Southern accents. So I grew up on sweet tea. And as many variations as I know (I add a pinch of baking soda to mine for smoothness), I’ve never even heard of using brown sugar. That sounds pretty amazing, actually… The Little Passports blog the recipe is from is really worth following, too! Wood Sprite really enjoys her subscription.

Holy cow; I just looked up “iced tea” at Wikipedia and there are a bazillion variations. Looks like I need a tea bucket list!

Still have snow on the ground? We had more over the weekend but it’s nearly gone now. I don’t think there’s enough to make this snow cream, courtesy of Wellness Mama, but I am bookmarking it to make the next time it snows. I almost typed “next year,” but who knows? She also has an interesting recipe up this week for apple cinnamon coconut muffins, which would probably be really great served warm for breakfast this week. Then again, if you want something a bit more decadent, how about these orange and dark chocolate popovers? After catching a few of my favorite yogurt flavors from Noosa on sale last week, that’s what I’ve been having for breakfast lately.
