Slow Sunday fun: Make a bug hotel

Every time Sunday rolls around, it feels like another week has just blown by in a single blink. I just can’t seem to keep up. Between illnesses, field trips, 4-H club and work, I am still not sure where this past week went. Sundays, however, are a good time for us to slow down and enjoy the present moment with one another. Although Indy works on Sundays, we usually just do something slow as a family in the afternoon and evening as well, like walk at the recreation center, go out for ice cream or read a book. Here are some slow Sunday fun activities Wood Sprite and I are planning on doing this Sunday and other Sundays this fall.

Finish reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. When it gets dark, we like to snuggle up and read on the couch together. Indy and I are hoping to get a bigger couch in the New Year so all three of us can comfortably fit once again. Wood Sprite has grown two inches since the summer and seems larger than life sometimes!

Make a bug hotel. What a cute idea to do before fall turns into winter. I really like how they layered different things in this hotel to cater to different insects as well as all of the different textures and colors.

Finish decorating our pumpkins. We didn’t even have time to carve them this year, which was a huge disappointment to me. We also had more than usual, since so many people gave us pumpkins! We have eight around here and we only bought half of them. Maybe we’ll try this melted crayon idea.
