This weekend is tax-free shopping weekend in many cities. Find out if your local stores are participating and take advantage of all the back-to-school deals. Here’s a tip: even if your city is not participating, some stores still do to remain competitive and give their shoppers discounts on the sly! Call or visit your retailer to find out if they are not charging tax even if the city says they are.

And here are some specific savings for you this week:

Get some free science journals for your kids. These are from the USDA Forest Service, and you can access them right away from your computer. The look like good quality publications so far!

Fat Wallet also has a bunch of great deals to use, including 8% cash back at Walgreens, 14% off GoDaddy.com and many other offers.

Panera Bread is offering frozen drinks at 50% off from 3-5 PM throughout the month of August.

Subway’s monthly special in August is the Buffalo Chicken sub. You can get one for $6.

Eat Drink Deals has a bunch of coupons available for the month of August, including KFC, Boston Market, Hardees, Honeybaked Ham, Chuck E Cheese and many others. Some of these do require your zip code or other information for specific deals in your area.
