Repurpose it
I love it when you can reuse whatever you buy instead of sending it to the trash. And reusing something permanently is even better! The blog Crafting a Green World is a great resource for ways to reuse your stuff, especially in crafts; here’s an idea, for example, for reusing your onesies.
How do you reuse the things that you buy? Here are some of the things we do in our home. Post your own ideas below.
Containers: From peanut butter jars to little yogurt cups with lids, we love to re-use containers around here. They are perfect for storing snacks, small craft items and so much more. They also save you money, since they allow you to purchase larger containers of food and then separate them into portion-sized amounts. It’s a really easy way to pack Wood Sprite’s fruit, vegetable and cracker/cookie snacks for the day.
Popsicle sticks: You can bet we use these for crafts galore! Wood Sprite especially likes to make photo frames or Christmas reindeer with these.
Milk jugs: We re-use milk jugs as bird feeders, tea containers, gardening jugs and even containers to store our distilled water for the fish and emergency water. They are super handy and you already paid for them anyway. (Milk cartons also work well for bird feeders.)
Egg cartons: These make wonderful crafts and storage containers. They are great for toddler throwing games, too (use pompons as the balls).
Dish soap bottles: You can refill these or use them as cheap squirt guns, paint projects and so much more.
