Monday Medley: The great bedsharing debate
Did you or do you share your bed with your children? My husband and I used a co-sleeper that attached to our bed, and then shared the bed when she was older. We also provided a “big girl bed” that he made for her so she could choose which to sleep in on her own. She was in her own bed most nights by the age of four—it was cozy!—but she napped in our bed during the day. I know people have some very passionate views about bedsharing, and I wanted to offer this article featuring new recommendations regarding bedsharing as food for thought.
A lot of homeschoolers—including my family—are not members of the HSLDA and find some of what they do to be detrimental to children. Pat Farenga has a really important post about this, as well as a petition calling for the HSLDA to address problems of child abuse and neglect in homeschooling families.
Have you heard about mommy stress caused by Pinterest? As if we need more to be stressed about. Dude, let’s just have fun with our projects and stop inventing new problems, okay? If you want to fight a problem, help raise money for malaria nets or something!
Share this post and photos about the truth behind photoshopping with children and teens you love (both boys and girls). This letter about beauty from a mother to her daughter is well worth the read, too!
I also really enjoyed this post about mainstream assumptions regarding higher education from Shannon Hayes.
