Monday Medley: Homeschool freebies
Normally I post freebies and discounts during the weekend, but that may have to change because there are so many good deals throughout the week. Now that I’m posting twice a day (or thereabouts), I may have to do a couple of deal days! Here are a few that made their way into my inbox today:
A year of Kids Discover magazine for just ten bucks! I’m definitely taking advantage of this one.
Here are some free online math lessons for interested middle schoolers.
Get up to $25 off your next Toys R Us order with this deal.
And here’s a free unit on Peter Rabbit.
Little Acorn Learning is doing another photo contest on their Facebook page. Check it out and enter to win a free guide of your choice. I have a couple of their Waldorf-style guides and they are really lovely.
And here’s your usual medley of interesting things on this Monday morning!
If you’re a Wizard of Oz fan (we’re a little obsessed ourselves), you’ll love this list of little-known facts about the film.
We are not big disciplinarians in our home, but we’ve been looking for resources to help Wood Sprite manage her anger (and ours, too). Aha Parenting’s Discipline section has been really helpful so far.
I love, love, love this story about how students are successful when teaching themselves. Can we say…duh?
With this same thought in mind, you have to read this satirical take on a “curriculum for walking.” You will spit out your coffee; I know I did!
This dad wearing women’s clothing in solidarity with his son just melts my heart. I wish all parents could be this accepting and supportive of their children. I don’t watch Glee anymore, but it reminds me of the episode where Burt Hummel danced for his son, Kurt, as his graduation present. Wood Sprite is tired of being told she’s beautiful, cute, etc. by people—she’s only seven and it makes her SO mad—and she recently told me she refuses “to be cute” anymore, which means every time her amazingness just astounds me every day I can’t say it’s cute. I am permitted, however, to call it cool.
