Monday Medley: Homeschool Freebies
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, Ostara or other holiday weekend—and if you don’t celebrate, a simply happy weekend! We had such wonderful weather on Sunday that we spent part of the day at the park; apparently a hundred other families had the same idea!
Over the weekend, I learned about a new website called Educents. It’s a savings site with daily education deals with up to 90 percent off software, curriculum, learning resources and more. If you sign up for their daily deals before April 2, you can even get a $10 gift card to use at the website for free.
By the way, I learned about Educents from Freely Educate, another great daily deal blog. Every day, Freely Educate posts free games, online programs and other resources to use for homeschooling, supplemental learning or plain old fun. I really recommend signing up for updates!
Yesterday was Cesar Chavez Day, so you might want to share some inspiring information about Chavez with your kids today. We really like the picture books Harvesting Hope: The Story of Cesar Chavez and A Picture Book of Cesar Chavez.
Plus, here are some fun links about April Fool’s Day I received from Clickschooling. April Fools' is one of my absolute favorite holidays; we color the milk, call people and tell them outrageous stories (The dog had puppies! There’s an alligator in the front yard!) and generally try to laugh all day long. We don’t try to make fools of each other so much as to see how we can make each other laugh. My daughter made clay swirls of fake doggy poo and put them in her dad’s shoes last year; it was pretty funny!

Happy freebie face! Actually, this is from a picnic table at our favorite local drive-in.
