Plus Khan in Spanish, travel tips and more

Monday Medley: Hacker Scouts

Have you heard about Hacker Scouts? What a cool idea, and I love that it’s co-ed. We have a local branch starting up but we are already involved in so many activities. Maybe we’ll give it a whirl in the future.

Nicole from Unschoolers.org has a list of must-read unschooling blogs that you might want to check out.

Khan Academy is now available in Spanish! This free service is now open to millions of people. It’s very cool to live in the age of the Internet. I know a lot of homeschoolers and unschoolers who use Khan on a daily basis and I love that it’s available for many more people now.

Here are 101 travel tips. Some of these are stupid (I don’t really care what John Mayer puts on his lips, nor what comes out of them) but others are helpful, like rolling your clothes instead of folding them to save room and eliminate wrinkles.

Getting ready for Halloween? Here’s a treasure trove of Halloween activities, plus some Day of the Dead projects, too. Wood Sprite gets a Halloween countdown box that I fill with treats, small toys (Halloween erasers, rings, etc.) and slips of paper featuring activities that we will be doing together. This year’s is so crammed with activities that I haven’t been able to add any treats just yet, but I plan on slipping a few chocolate coins in here and there. They are her favorite!
