Monday Medley: CNN covers unschooling

Holy cow, a real mainstream article about unschooling that is actually fair and, dare I say it, positive? Thanks, CNN! I’d advise everyone to avoid the comments, though—as with any piece about a subject that’s not “normal,” it’s full of trolls.

Need a finance book for your kids (and maybe yourself)? Follow Your Money looks pretty promising. Maybe I’ll learn some things, too!

The fact that there is a “naughty leopard” TODDLER costume says so many wrong things about our culture that it makes me want to throw up. Thanks to Walmart for pulling it, but dang, do we need to pressure these companies to knock it off—not to mention everyone in the entertainment industry.

This Natural Child Magazine piece about doctors speaking out about environmental chemical dangers is an important read—especially for lawmakers. I really hope we can ban the use of pesticides and other chemicals that so many other nations have already banned already, and soon.

There is a new Studio Ghibli movie coming soon! I’m still bummed about Miyazaki retiring but this is very cool news.

Check out these amazing Halloween makeup ideas! Oh, I am getting so excited for my Little Dead Riding Hood look. I like some of the eye ideas here, but I want to make a skeletal mouth off to the side of my face for a more jarring effect. Which of these do you like? We’re still looking for a wolf mask that Indy likes (and that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg).
