Wood Sprite loves these cultural erasers!

Little Passports: China

Poor Wood Sprite took her eraser collection to Girl Scouts tonight for her show and tell time and completely forgot the bean bun eraser she loves so much at home! It was actually my own fault; I had packed it back into her Little Passports luggage box, pictured here, before we left. Each month Sprite receives a new package in the mail from another country through the subscription, and the little souvenirs are her favorite part.

We have a ritual when we receive her packet. She opens it and finds the tiny pin sticker first. We open the map and find the country to add the pin to it. I usually give her clues to help her find it. Then we add the passport sticker to her passport and the country sticker to her luggage.

Next, we read the letter from Sofia and Sam, the two kids who journey around the world through the program. The letters could be a bit more interesting but she likes them well enough. She examines her souvenirs while I read the letter to her. We have enjoyed every month’s souvenir save the one from France, which was a cartoonish poster featuring the aforementioned children. Her favorite so far has been a small stuffed tiger from India, as well as her erasers from Japan and China. Mine was the double decker bus we put together for England.

We don’t always get around to the activity sheets right away, and Wood Sprite’s not a huge fan of the online games. Then again, she’s a seasoned computer gamer and it takes a lot to impress her sometimes! But I tuck the sheets in my bag with me and we’ll do them at the doctor’s office or while we wait elsewhere.

All in all, it’s not a bad way to spend about $14 per month, and she always looks forward to her package. Do you get Little Passports? If so, how do you like it?
