Dozens of daily discounts for your family!

Homeschooler discounts

In Missouri, homeschooling parents are often treated like teachers when it comes to getting discounts. (Visit this link for a ton of them!) In a lot of cases, you don’t even have to prove you are a homeschooler; just let the store know, and they are willing to give you a discount. Some stores even offer teacher newsletters that you can use to buy discounted materials, such as Scholastic. Try your local office stores, craft stores, book stores and teacher businesses for discount opportunities.

Some stores do require proof, such as a card from a local homeschooling organization. We offer these in several of our groups so people are able to download them and easily use them once they become members. The groups that have non-profit status are also able to get things tax free and other discounts at various museums, stores and educational centers.

The best discount as a homeschooler, however, is at the library. It’s not really a discount but an extra bonus: you can check out up to 100 books on your card at a time instead of the usual 30 limit! This might sound excessive to some, but a lot of homeschooling families—mine included—go through picture books, DVDs and kids’ magazines like M&Ms. My family regularly checks out 100 books a week between just my daughter and me. She pores through them, and whether it’s a Spanish-English hybrid by Yuyi Morales, a Scooby Doo first readers book or even a Where’s Waldo? Volume, you can bet that Wood Sprite loves her library card.
