Homemade Fun: Make your own vapor rub

There are SO many cool homemade remedies, cosmetics and household cleaners you can make out there, and I love trying them out. If nothing else, it’s fun to make new things—but if you actually love what you make, you’ll also never have to buy it again.

Here are some cool homemade recipes I have seen this week.

Homemade Vapor Rub: It’s mostly just essential oils and beeswax.

Homemade Calamine Lotion: We already have mosquitoes so bad at our house—we live next to a creek and near a river, so it’s sort of inevitable. This will definitely come in handy!

Cream for Eczema or Psoriasis: Even when you don’t have either of these conditions, it seems like we all end up with some itchy or uncomfortable skin sometime in the summer. Maybe this will help us all out.

Nontoxic Sunscreen Lotion Bar: Wow, am I in love with this idea! Wood Sprite didn’t get my full head of red hair—she’s strawberry blonde—so she doesn’t burn as badly as I do, but we both could use some of this for our frequent park days this summer. We have at least two each week—sometimes up to four or five!—so we have lots of sun time ahead of us.

Whipped Body Butter Lotion: Why not make your own? I am a LUSH fiend, though; I’m not sure I could give up my LUSH Heavenlii Massage Bar, which is one of the few treats I indulge in every few months.
