Geekin’ Out: Dresden Files Movie!

Fellow Dresden Files lovers, it’s time to get excited. There is a Dresden Files live action movie being produced right now and it will be available to watch for FREE online in September! You can follow the movie on Facebook for updates and details, plus see the trailer, cast information, photo stills and interviews.

Okay, it’s a fan-based movie, not produced by a major motion picture studio, but I’m still really stoked. Even Jim Butcher is on board. He can be seen online holding up a sign that says he’s excited to see Night Light, the film that the fans wrote based on his series. They’re writing and producing it under a creative commons license and I think Butcher is so cool to be fine with it all (unlike some authors we all know…).

The movie isn’t going to be about one of the books Butcher has already written. The fans have written the film to take place between two books, however, and maintain that it is much truer to the books than the film—so we’ll actually get to see some canon Murphy, Thomas, Molly and more!

The story is about practitioners in the Chicago area who are being harmed. City officials are chalking it up to self-mutilation but our favorite wizard named Harry (no, the grown-up one!) knows better. He has to work off the books to solve the case and I cannot wait to see what the Tower of Turtles production company has in store for us.
