Friday Fun: Upcycled crafts

10/31/13

Check out these 26 upcycled crafts for kids from Crafting a Green World. I love the wood toys and birdfeeder ideas. Wouldn’t those be great projects to donate to a senior center, homeless shelter or hospital? We may have to use these in 4-H this year.

Homeschool Share has their activity calendar for November out already!

Learn to draw a fun skull for Day of the Dead celebration at Art Projects for Kids. Draw one on a paper plate and add popsicle sticks for masks.

Make one of these cute Little World Dioramas from Violette’s Creative Juice. I loved making dioramas as a kid. I remember making one for pandas and another for “Romeo and Juliet.” In the latter, I even made spotlights with tissue paper by cutting holes above each scene so you could look into the box to see different scenes from the play.

Make your own lotion bars! Wellness Mama has several recipes for sunscreen, muscle relief and more lotion helpers.

In the market for some yummy soups for the weekend? Try one of these delicious ideas from A Beautiful Mess. I’m ready for some black bean tortilla right now!

Try making an origami Cyclops eye.

Make a fun pineapple lamp. Then give it away with a Spongebob action figure for a birthday or Christmas!

How about a cute watercolor resist pumpkin? Even if Halloween is over, there is still plenty of pumpkin fun to be had! And if you have extra pumpkins you never carved, you can still make them pretty. Paint them and add glitter for pretty Thanksgiving centerpieces or decorations.

Create a lovely Thanksgiving focal point early on in the month. We make a tree of thanks every year and add leaves featuring what we are thankful for on each branch.

Make some homemade ricotta cheese with your family. Then design your own recipe to use the cheese!
