Get ready for Valentine’s Day with this easy yet lovely frosted vase. You could add any phrase you want!

Have a broken mirror on hand? You can also make this DIY mosaic Valentine for the day of lovers.

Make some ice rainbow suncatchers to use while it’s still frozen outside. Best of all, this idea calls for natural items to use—like leaves, twigs and berries—so when they melt, they won’t hurt anything (and they may feed your neighborhood birds, too!).

Need some ideas for keeping toddlers busy during a trip this weekend? The Activity Mom has you covered.

Want to have a girls’ spa weekend? Try making your own homemade chocolate mint lip gloss.

Start an art journal for 2014. If you don’t have time to write long entries or sketch in some art, try keeping an index card journal where you write a line per day, per index card. Then you can go back next year and add even more while you revisit your own memories. (I learned this tip from the Happiness Project.)

If your children love dragons as much as mine does, you might want to show them this dragon drawing tutorial.

Try getting involved in a winter sport if there’s one in your area. I know basketball teams are starting up around where we live. You can also just enjoy the snow and go sledding; find a great hill and have at it!

Organize and store your photos well. Enjoy going through them and create some fun collages while you are at it! I’ve made some really lovely ones of my family lately.
