Friday Fun: Bow braids

11/22/13

Here’s a tutorial on how to style a bow braid. To tell you the truth, I’ve never even seen one before, but it’s very pretty. My friend L likes to do these cool things with her hair so I’m sending it her way.

Wood Sprite and I finally got around to painting our Where the Wild Things Are figures! I just love them (she did more work to hers after I took the photo; her dad went out to work in the backyard “jungle” and she wanted to tag along instead of finishing her artwork!) and now I want to make more of them.

Art Projects for Kids has a few fun ideas for mini furniture, like craft stick tables and cardboard clubhouses. These would be wonderful for anyone in your home who enjoys building miniature worlds or playing with miniatures.

Craftberry Bush has a lovely Advent idea that really differs from anything I’ve seen. Ever seen clay tags? They look like claymation cartoons meet realistic whimsy—or something from Elf!

Five words: Decoupage comic book building blocks. I love them!

I also love how people are using crafts as a form of activism—or craftivism. Here is a story about people upcycling sleeping mats for homeless residents of Chicago.

These 10 ways to repurpose an Altoids tin are fabulous. I’m still working on emptying the one I bought months ago; I guess they are curiously too strong for my taste!

Crafting a Green World also has 14 great ideas for DIY, eco-friendly ornaments for the holidays. I love the Scrabble ornament not only because it was my grandmother’s favorite game, but also because it spells out my aunt’s name, Joy, too. I absolutely have to make that one.

What fun projects are you up to this weekend?
