Family films of 2014
This is not one of those, “OMG I cannot WAIT to see that movie!” years for me. But then again, neither was 2013, yet I discovered two movies that I absolutely love (Frozen and The Croods) as well as one that I really enjoyed quite a bit (Epic). So who knows—maybe 2014 will surprise me.
Wood Sprite is eagerly anticipating the new Lego movie, which is coming out this month. I’m not into it myself, but we have free tickets to use from our canned food donations in December so why not? Indy is looking forward to that one, too. I just want to see more girls in it. I can’t help it; I’m a, you know, girl.
There are two films that I am excited about as far as family films go (I’m not counting Mockingjay, since Sprite can’t see it and it’s a given that I can’t wait to see it!). These are Maleficent and Into the Woods. Both Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep already look amazing in key roles of both movies and I cannot wait to see them. I’m not as excited about them as I was about Brave, but hey, I will take them!
Other films coming out this year—which mostly look like sequels—look a little bleh. We had a pretty bleh year in 2013 in kids’ movies overall, too. I do look forward to the Muppets movie as well, but I’d like it to have more females in it, too. I know it’s becoming a frequent whine of mine but darn it, shouldn’t half the population be in most movies?
Which movies are you looking forward to in 2014?
