When it comes to holidays like Christmas, Halloween and even Valentine’s Day, a lot of families go all out in decorating for the season. But when it comes to spring and summer general decorations, there seems to be two distinctive groups: teachery-homeschoolery die cuts and foam pieces or lack of decorations altogether. Plenty of people like to swap their winterization for springtime colors and lighter looks, but most don’t seem to really decorate much as far as chicks, bunnies, flowers and such go.
My family decorates for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and springtime all at once, usually at the beginning of March. We use lots of shiny gold and green, die cut flowers (the cats eat the real ones, unfortunately, so we keep most of those outside), bunnies, eggs and plenty of other fun decorations. Wood Sprite is anxious to beckon spring forward this year. I can’t remember another year when she was so sick of winter, but then again, this is the first winter we’ve had with so many sub-zero temperatures, too.
She grabbed the springtime box yesterday and complained, “We don’t have enough spring decorations!” She’s absolutely right—we have four tubs of Halloween decorations (plus items that don’t fit in tubs), three for Christmas, and only one small tote for spring. “Well, fix it,” I told her, and she promptly started to make more.
I have a feeling we’ll have plenty of spring decorations in no time!
What does your family do to celebrate the coming of spring? Do you decorate?
