Get this family game and play it often!

Chatter Matters

We had several activities canceled early in the week due to snow days, and after a wonderful day at home I found myself remembering once again how much we just love to stay home and be together as a family. There are just so many homeschooling activities! Between classes, library events, play dates and field trips, we end up doing 2-4 activities a day, which often leaves little time for other things. It also results in us knowing each other less. I think my new goal is going to be to stay home more, especially after we played the game Chatter Matters together.

Chatter Matters is an adorable board game where you answer questions about each other. The goal is to win 15 tokens, and once you do, your prize is to do an activity from a wish list (story time together, select a movie or game to play, choose a menu for a meal, etc.). It is such a wonderful, fun game. We even learned things about Wood Sprite that we didn’t know, such as her favorite recent memory (going to Six Flags as a family) and her number one goal of the year (to go camping!).

It’s not without its flaws. With an only child, the questions about siblings aren’t applicable; we either skip them, answer about ourselves instead or pull in the cats! We also don’t like the reward system of coins for chores; in our family, everyone gets an income and everyone pitches in, but the two are not related. It’s just part of what being a family means to us. It’s not a really rigid system in the game, though; I don’t think Sprite even noticed. She was much too excited to do the drawing and charades challenges in the game instead!

I give the game 9/10 stars and really recommend it to any family. It is advised for ages 8 and up, but I think smaller kids could play with parent help, too. We’ll definitely be playing it again this week; thanks for the game, Aunt D!
